Recently, the grade 9 and 10 students went on an overnight retreat to Geumsan Youth Training Center (금산청소년수련원). Staying there for one full night, they had the chance to spend time together outside of our usual school environment while engaging in several activities that built strong connections.

What activities did we do?
During the retreat, the students took part in different group activities and spent a lot of time focusing on teamwork, communication and cooperation. Being away from their original classroom also allowed students to interact in a more relaxed setting and spend time with classmates they may not have originally known that well during the school day.
Students also had time to enjoy sports or other outdoor activities. The training center had an area where students could play soccer along with basketball. These activities allowed the students to choose how they wanted to spend some of their free time and gave them more and more opportunities to enjoy the retreat with their friends together.

What do students think?
Question: What was your favorite part of the retreat?
Student 1: My favourite part of the retreat was how we could all work together in group activities and get to know others who we haven’t really gotten a chance to interact with.
Student 2: the food!
Student 3: the most memorable part has to be the pool activity. We got to have fun splashing around in the water and sliding down an inflatable slide. The food was also a key experience in my opinion as I noticed the people there really cared about feeding us nutritious yet good food.
Student 4: This place is very nice. The food was good and we got a lot of opportunities to spend time together outside of school. My favourite part was the pool activity, but I also liked playing sports and just being able to hang out with my friends.
